ABOUT TWELFTH NIGHT
“Frothy fun - but with bite.” –The Times
Twelfth Night is a story of unrequited love - both hilarious and heartbreaking. Viola is shipwrecked on the shore of a strange country. She disguises herself so that she might serve Orsino, the Duke. While Viola falls for the Duke, he pines after the fair Olivia, who mourns the deaths of her father and brother. While she mourns, her uncle and a spendthrift knight who failed to woo her wreak havoc in the house. Their debauchery ensures the wrath of the tight-collared and arrogant steward, Malvolio, and they plot their revenge. Meanwhile, Viola's brother Sebastian, presumed drowned in the shipwreck that delivered her to Illyria, is alive and with an infamous pirate in tow. In Shakespeare's comedic masterwork, "nothing that is so is so."
“The funniest of Shakespeare's plays… only the clown among all its characters is essentially sane.” –Harold Bloom
“In [Twelfth Night], disguise comes before a fall. All the characters are in some way not what they seem. And all are ultimately revealed to be what they really are, which they themselves do not initially understand. Before the end, pretty much everybody takes a tumble, physically as well as metaphorically.” –New York Times
“Having Burbage Theatre Co in Pawtucket gives audiences easy access to well done theatre.”
–Pawtucket Times

PROVIDENCE JOURNAL - Burbage's 'TWELFTH NIGHT' is Shakespeare as you like it
There's a right way and a wrong way to do Shakespeare - and certainly a right and a wrong way to introduce modern touches without ruining the beauty of the language and action - and then there is the Burbage way, which could actually ruin audiences for any other company.
